Environmentally-responsible luxury

This home was built to replace one of the neighborhood's least attractive houses. In addition to carefully designing the structure and landscaping to fit in with the neighborhood, there was a thoughtful effort to preserve the native plant life in the backyard and around the property. Many neighbors and community members have come to Wu Construction with praise for this development.

Energy-saving

This home was built as an example of simple energy efficiency using solar power in a clever and inexpensive way. Taking the advantage of southern orientation of this site, a large custom-made green house type window was installed to obtain maximum heat and light during the cold and relatively dark Seattle winter season. The floor-to-ceiling closeable blinds prevent overheating in the summer.

Adapting to weather

Instead of an exposed deck that often is underused in Seattle's short and mild summer, this sunroom was created to provide an alternative "outdoor space." The result is a comfortable room that is pleasant during all four-seasons with natural lighting and heating.

Natural Lighting

A natural indirect lighting source from a large picture window above the north side of the house brightens the stairway, but protects the fine furniture and woodwork from sun damage.

Preserving neighborhood character

An abandoned old house was fully renovated to enhance and maintain its historic charm in the Wedgwood neighborhood of Seattle.
